About semi-custom framed
Semi-custom cabinetry starts from a manufacturer's standard box catalog but lets you adjust widths, depths, heights, finishes, and interior accessories. For roughly 80% of the kitchens we build, it delivers a custom look at a fraction of a custom price.
Filler panels and scribe strips close the gaps a standard box leaves against out-of-square walls, so the finished result reads as built-in.
Specifier's tips
- Specify plywood boxes rather than particleboard, especially near sinks and dishwashers
- Add roll-out trays and drawer dividers at order time — retrofitting later costs more
- Order at design sign-off, not at demolition, to protect the schedule
Frequently asked
How is this different from stock?
Stock comes only in fixed 3" increments with a short finish list. Semi-custom lets you modify size, depth, and finish, which matters in tight NYC layouts.
Typical lead time?
Six to ten weeks from a signed order and approved finish sample.
