About waterproofing systems
Waterproofing is the part of a bathroom you never see and the part that determines whether it lasts twenty years or fails in three. We install a continuous membrane across every wet-zone wall and floor.
Sheet membranes (Schluter Kerdi) and liquid-applied membranes (Laticrete Hydro Ban) both work when installed to spec — the failure is always in the corners and penetrations.
Specifier's tips
- Every pipe and valve penetration gets sealed, not just taped
- Pre-sloped pans beat mud-set pans for consistency
- Never use standard drywall behind tile in a wet area
Frequently asked
Is a cement board enough by itself?
No. Backer board is a substrate, not a waterproof layer. It needs a membrane over it.
Can waterproofing be inspected?
Yes — we flood-test shower pans for 24 hours before any tile goes down.
