About engineered quartz

Engineered quartz is about 90% ground natural quartz bound with resin and pigment. Because it is non-porous, wine, coffee, oil, and lemon juice sit on the surface instead of soaking in — and it never needs sealing.

Consistency is its other advantage: what you see on the sample is what arrives, which makes it easy to specify remotely.

Specifier's tips

  • Not heat-proof — resin can scorch, so always use a trivet
  • Direct sunlight can fade some colors; check UV rating for a sunny window run
  • Ask for book-matched slabs if you're doing a waterfall island

Frequently asked

Does quartz look artificial?

The current generation of veined quartz is convincing at counter height. Up close, veins stop at the surface rather than running through the slab.

Can quartz be repaired?

Minor chips at the edge can be filled by a fabricator. Deep cracks usually mean replacing the affected piece.
